DCST: Important Volunteer Training Videos
Volunteers, Parents (and Swimmers):
The Prince William Swim League has put together a variety of training videos that you can access that will prepare you for our first meet (6/7) and for tonight's time trials. Below are a few highlighted for convenience:
Timers & Recorders & Runners
Expect big changes to how events are seeded, timed, and recorded.
Timer and Recorder training video
This video is more or less a 25 minute timer brief, with some information about how timer sheets are going to replace deck cards in 2025.
For runners - the deck runner will only be gathering timer sheets and taking them to computers after every ODD NUMBERED EVENT. This will mean a lot less moving through the lanes!
Clerk of Course & Reseeding
PWSL has a short (25 min) presentation, along with slides and notes, about how the clerk of course will change with pre-seeded meets. The shortest possible version: Clerk will still be there; all swimmers will still move through clerk of course on their way to the pool; but Clerk of Course will not have to seed events or re-seed entire events on the fly the way they did previously.
Referees and computer reps should also watch this video, as it contains best practices for reseeding on deck, in the event it becomes necessary. Remember that before the swim, Clerk of Course, Recorders, Referees, and computers all need to share information about swimmers changing their heat and lane; after the swim, the referee and computers still need to know if a swimmer swam out of order.
