Meet Recap and Ribbiting Highlights - 06/07/2025 BLST vs. DCST
Good Evening Frog Families 🐸💦!
The Dale City Frogs made a big splash this weekend — leaping, lunging, and laughing our way through another successful swim meet! Whether we were ribbiting with excitement or just hopping to the finish line, every swimmer gave it their all. 🐸💚 I am happy to report that the Frogs came away with a win this weekend with a final score of DCST - 2244.0 to BLST – 1359.0!! What a great way to start the season!! Please see attached meet results document for your use.
I want to personally thank all of the Frog families for hanging in there Saturday, overcoming not only a rain delay but also having to navigate an entirely new process for how the meet runs due to the new software. As we continue to communicate the importance of accurately committing your swimmers to the meet, we were able to see just how hectic things can be when a team does not emphasis that process. BLST had 40% of their splashes “No Shows” compared to DCST’s 6%. Having accurate data leading up to the meet makes the events much shorter and less stressful for all involved you all did an amazing job getting those commitments in!
The Frogs had 35% of their swims result in time improvements. These improvements were based on best times from last year and do not reflect our mock time trials last week. The new software is tracking time improvements slightly differently than the old system, so I will provide more information on how that will work going forward as the season progresses.
We were able to get a few new stroke and turn officials training on Saturday which will be helpful each week. These wonderful volunteers, who have the hardest job of them all, which is having to disqualify sweet little innocent Frogs, truly make our events fair and timely. Sadly, 16% of our swims Saturday resulted in DQ’s, which is actually quite low for the first meet of the season. We will have to track how this metric trend this year, but for now, great job Frogs!!!
As for other volunteers, we had 52 families enter the meet and all but 4 of those families signed up for at least one volunteer shift! As you all know, we need our volunteers to run the meets, so please continue to get help out where you can. And keep in mind volunteering during swim meets is a requirement of being on the team, it definitely takes a village to pull off these events, or maybe in our case it takes an “army”. Which, fun fact, is what a group of Frogs is called.
Here are some ribbit-worthy highlights from the meet:
